Chester Smith

Chester Earle "Chet" Smith, age 77, of Greenville, formerly of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of Marion Earle & Hazel Virginia (Brinley) Smith, he was born on August 4, 1940 in South Bend, Indiana. Following his graduation from high school, he proudly served in the United States Army. After nearly 30 years as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in South Bend, he retired to Greenville where he made his home since 2005. Chet was an avid fan of NASCAR and also enjoyed model railroading and trains. Survivors include a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley & William Davis of Greenville; three nieces, Suzanne & James Shoemaker, Julie Davis, and Pamela & Chris Rule; and a nephew, James A. & Victoria Davis. Arrangements were entrusted to Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, honored providers of Veterans Funeral Care.
