Charlotte Longieliere-Fisher

May 31, 1935 — May 26, 2025

Charlotte Joyce Longieliere-Fisher, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2025, just five days shy of her 90th birthday. She was surrounded by generations of her loving family and her dear friend Susie, who stood by her side in life and in her final moments. Born on May 31, 1935, Charlotte lived a full and vibrant life defined by deep love and a fiery spirit. She was as loving as she was feisty—always quick with a comeback, full of wit, and never afraid to speak her mind. She made people laugh, told it like it was, and loved fiercely. Charlotte was the proud mother of four children—David (Linda) Longieliere, Dale (Debbie) Collins, Desiree (William) Raven, and James Jr. (Kim) Longieliere—and nothing brought her more joy than being surrounded by her big, beautiful family. Her legacy includes 16 grandchildren: Sarah Sidor, Amanda Longfield, David-Michael Longieliere, Gerry Collins, Alice Koster, Jeffrey Collins, Amy Perez, David Longieliere, William Raven, Brandi Raven, Ian Raven, Keli Kempker, Amber Raven, Heather Raven, James Longieliere III, and Hollie Longieliere. She also had 36 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. She treasured the bond she shared with each generation and was especially honored to have a namesake among them. Charlotte spent many years in Las Vegas before returning to Twin Lake, Michigan. Her home was filled with framed photos of her family—each one proudly displayed and often accompanied by a story she loved to share. Among her many cherished memories, one especially dear to her was a trip to Steamboat Springs, Colorado, which she took with her grandson Ian after his cancer diagnosis—a meaningful time together, filled with love, connection, and moments she carried with her always. She took great pride in her family and cherished collecting heirlooms and special dolls, many of which she lovingly passed down to her grandchildren. At Christmas, her homemade fudge and sea foam candy were favorites that became beloved traditions. Charlotte also had a deep love for animals, especially black dogs and cats, and was passionate about rescuing them. She held a special place in her heart for her late dogs Precious, Sadie, and Desi, and her cats Teddy, Lucy, and Benji, who brought her companionship over the years. She had a passion for travel, a love of the band Alabama, and an endless curiosity about her ancestry. She loved sharing stories about the family’s history—where they came from, who they were, and how they were all connected—keeping those memories alive for generations to come. She especially cherished the annual Memorial Weekend celebrations that brought her whole family together to mark her birthday—which she proudly shared with her first great-grandchild—and the many others born in May. She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Fisher; her parents, Glen and Evelyn (Witham) Schutter; her siblings Paul, David, Walter, Steve, and Glen Schutter; and her sister Barbara Shellgren-Perez. She was also preceded in death by her nephews Matthew Shellgren and Anthony Schutter, her niece Bernice Schutter, her sons David Longieliere and Dale Collins, and her beloved grandchildren Brandi Raven and Ian Raven. The memory of these cherished loved ones lives on in the hearts of all who knew them. A celebration of Charlotte’s life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. at the Twin Lake Lodge in Twin Lake County Park (6231 Main Street, Twin Lake, MI 49457). Family and friends are invited to stop by whenever it works best for you as we honor Charlotte’s life in the way she loved most—family reunion style. In tribute to her love of bringing people together, we encourage you to bring photos and memories to share. It will be a day of connection, stories, and celebration—just as she would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Charlotte’s honor to Noah’s Project of Muskegon, a no-kill animal shelter that showed extraordinary compassion when it was needed most. (Click the link below to donate online) Charlotte had a deep love for animals, especially those in need of a second chance. With the help of Heaven Can Wait, she rescued Benji—a stray cat with a severely injured eye who required surgery to survive. After his recovery, she brought him into her home, joining her other rescued cats, Teddy and Lucy. When Charlotte could no longer care for them, Noah’s Project stepped in and found loving homes for all three. Supporting this shelter is a meaningful way to carry on Charlotte’s legacy of kindness and care.
