June 1, 1948 — March 27, 2013

Charley Eugene "Gene" Fare, age 64, formerly of Sheridan and Stanton area, passed away Monday, March 25, 2013 at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. The son of Charles F. & Dorothy G. (Thompson) Fare, he was born on June 1, 1948 in Sheridan. He was a Vietnam era veteran of the U.S. Army. Gene spent most of his years in the construction trade, as the owner of Fare Construction and later as a building inspector. Following a car accident, he became a passionate advocate for those with traumatic brain injuries and also worked as a paralegal. He had been a member of the Knights of Columbus in Stanton, was a Boy Scout leader, and had been a member of the Stanton Star Lodge F&AM. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lavon Fare and Albert Ray Fare; and a sister, Alberta Kay Tedham. Surviving are his sons, Mark J. "John" & Jeri Fare of Brighton, and Steve & Heidi Fare of Winn; two grandchildren, Samantha Fare and Alexander Fare, both at home in Brighton; a brother, Gary & Pat Fare of Greenville; a sister, Joyce Thurber of Dallas, Texas; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends. Visitation is Saturday from 12-1 p.m. at Jesus Non-Denominational Church, 9206 Peck Road, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Pastor Tommy Turner will officiate and burial will take place privately at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly.
