Charles W. House
Charles William House, age 67, of Stanton, passed away Friday evening, October 25, 2024 at Corewell Health-Greenville Hospital RNC. The son of Gerald & Kathryn (Flaitz) House, he was born on September 27, 1957 in Hornell, New York where he was raised and graduated high school.
Following high school, he enlisted in the United States Army, attained the rank of sergeant, and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Expert Marksman Badge (M-16) and the Sharpshooter Badge (hand grenade).
Following his honorable discharge, Charlie worked as a corrections officer with the Michigan Department of Corrections at the former Riverside Correctional Facility and the Michigan Reformatory in Ionia, retiring after 27 years of service.
Charlie loved listening to classic rock music, watching old westerns, and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns, the New York Yankees, and the Detroit Red Wings. More than anything, he loved spending time with his children and granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jake & Kate House; two brothers, Gerald and David House; and two sisters, Sandy (Steve) Furlong and Nancy Sexton.
Surviving are his daughter, Nicole (Joshua) Kipp; his twin sons, Alexander House and Zachary House; a granddaughter, Rylee Kipp, all of Stanton; a sister, Janet Bender; a brother-in-law, Tom Sexton, both of New York; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Life is from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at the Stanton American Legion Post No. 452, 337 W. Day Street, Stanton, Michigan 48888. Private committal services, with military honors, will be held at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Michigan.
