Chaka Ogun Carpenter was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 27, 1972. He went to be with our Lord on March 19, 2026 at 5:13 PM. He was surrounded by loved ones until the very end. He rejoined the following family members in the afterlife Ernest Jr (father), Ozella (maternal grandmother), Roberta (paternal grandmother), and William I (father-in-law).
He leaves to cherish his memory, his right hand, Michelle (fiancé of 13+ years), his loving mother, Linda and stepfather Stephen, his siblings, Marquail, Fontaine, Dionne, Precious, Brett David, Oshunda and her husband Richard, Ozella. Deshay, Kamau Ogun, and Malika.She also leaves his pride and joys to miss him, his children,adopted children,and stepchildren Traci, Naquay Ogun, Sophia, Chakalay, Jovon Ogun, Arius and his wife Te’Shia’, Shakayla, and Mara. He also leaves his grand and step grand children, Zion and Zaire of Traci, Nikiya, Tori, and Gabrielle Ogun of Naquay Ogun, Laila, Giovanni, and Darrell III of Sophia, Rashad of Chakalay, LaMarion, Zaniya, Oshun, Arius Jr, Santana, and Ki’Aire of Arius, Alicia of Mara, and adopted grands Ariael and Amarre. He leaves his parents-in-laws, Veronica, John and Paulette and Carla. He also leaves siblings-in- laws, Terrance Sr, Antonio, Monica, Christina, William II. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and so many friends and loved ones will miss him for the rest of their days.
He attended high schools Kalamazoo Central and Phoenix. He received IT certificate at a trade school. He would say “My name is Chaka Carpenter and I’m a carpenter by trade”.
Chaka was a simple/humble man. He could talk to anyone anywhere. He always treated people kindly. He would be greatly missed. He also left a memorable and positive impact on everyone that knew him.
The family would like to thank everyone from the depths of our hearts for every prayer, thought, visit, phone call, text, and gift you have sent our way over these past three years. Bless you all and we love you!
