Carolyn Townsend

Carolyn K. (DeMersseman) Townsend, age 79, passed away Monday June 8th 2020. She was born June 15, 1940, in Strong City, Kansas to the late, Edward and Kathryn (Combs) DeMersseman. She married the love of her life, Jay Townsend on June 30, 1959, in Josephine, Oregon. They celebrated 54 years of marriage and raised three girls before Jay passed away. Carolyn was a longtime employee of Spectrum Health, and had great talent for decorating cakes. Carolyn is survived by her daughters, Kathy (Dan) VanderSchuur, Dee (Jeff) Hysell, and Laurie (Jeff) Fifelski; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Dan (Carolyn) DeMerrsseman; sister, Jeanie Moore; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay; her parents, Edward and Kathryn; two brothers, Bob and Bill DeMersseman; and sister, Ginger Gilliam.
