Carolyn Jean Richardson, born on April 22, 1938, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, left us on September 26, 2024. She was a testament to the beauty of resilience and the power of compassion. As Helen Keller once said, "The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched - they must be felt with the heart." Carolyn embraced this sentiment throughout her life, touching the lives of many with her enduring spirit and open heart.
Carolyn, known for her hard work and dedication, put her heart into everything she did. Her tireless dedication to her work was a testament to her strong spirit and her deep belief in the importance of care and compassion. She was a woman of many passions, but what stood out the most was her love for her family and friends, an anchor she held onto throughout her life's journey.
Carolyn is survived by her loving children, Michael (Pam) Richardson, Shannon (Mark) Sheehy, and Ryan Richardson. Her cherished granddaughters, Alexandra VanderVeen, Taylor Richardson and much beloved Grandson, Nartese Richardson. Along with her Great Grandchildren, Ava Rose and Eli. Carolyn deeply cherished her niece, Shelly DeBree, close friends Helen Smith, Kathy Haveman and Greta VandenBerg.
These relationships were her greatest source of joy and pride, and she leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and strength. Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents John and Gladys Hoover, who instilled in her the values of hard work, compassion, and resilience that she carried with her throughout her life. Along with her siblings, Brother William, and Sisters Virginia, Donna and Ruth.
As we mourn the loss of Carolyn, we can also celebrate her life and the positive impact she had on those around her. In the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Carolyn Richardson made us all feel loved, valued, and important.
