December 25, 1944 — January 15, 2024

Carol Anne Cornett, age 79, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, January 15, 2024. She was born December 25, 1944, in Grand Rapids, to the late William and Verda (Howard) Johnell. Carol graduated from Rogers High School with the class of 1963. She worked many years in the food industry, managing different restaurants. Carol had a true passion for music; she loved attending music festivals and supporting local artists as well as many of her grandchildren's concerts, and plays. Her favorite season was summer and would spend time at various cottages over the years. She would also go on field trips, zoo adventures, pumpkin patches, car shows, or anywhere her family may be. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her family and friends for hours on her patio. Carol's favorite flower was the Sunflower, so her family asks that when you see one you think about her and smile. Survivors include her two daughters, Lisa (Larry) Shepard and Renee (Randy) Chapman; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Rachel, Rieley, and Raegen Chapman; Allen Carr and his children, Averie, Sophia and Cecilia; Carrie and Dan Kavanaugh and their children, Aaron and Lainey; Brad and Ariana Carr; Stephanie and Jason Stegehuis and their children, Jayme, Makenzie, Aryanna, Kylie, Cayden, Jaxson and Everlee; Derek and Nichole Shepard and their son, Spencer; Jeremy Shepard and his son, King; Reece Shepard; and Alyssa and Zee Shepard and their son, Noah; sisters, Alice Davey and Christine (Rich) Guzorek; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Verda and her brother-in-law, David Davey. Per Carol’s wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Faith Hospice at Trillium Woods for their help, care, and support throughout this difficult journey.
