Carol Ann Collins, age 71, entered her heavenly home on January 10th, 2022. She passed away at Mercy Health Hospital in Grand Rapids, MI. Carol was born December 20, 1950, in Detroit Michigan. Carol had a lively personality and was known to make you laugh. Carol was a great friend to many. She made a great impression on those she met by cracking a joke. She was the queen of keeping it real! Her motto was, "I can do me better than anybody else." She loved to write poems and shop for her home and grandchildren. She never missed sending her grandchildren and great grandchildren birthday cards with the dollar amount of their age. That was one of her ways of showing her love. She had a love for butterflies, elephants, and angels, which could be seen throughout her home. Carol was also known to be the flyest, feistiest, "old ladeee" and she was known for matching from head to toe, cane and all. Many of her nieces and nephews called Carol their "favorite aunt."
Carol leaves to cherish her memory her loving daughter, Angia and son-in-law, Damien Reynolds, whom she often referred to as her best friend. Carol was beloved by her grandchildren, Voncha'e Norman, Davion (Deshia) Cooley, and Donavan Reynolds, and cherished great-grandmother, to Kennedi Jones, Karter Williams, Niko Cooley, and Kaidyn (Fudge) Norman. She is survived by her brother, John Collins of Flint, MI. Carol leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews - with special mention to Kim Fortt, Tisa Collins, DeSherryl Tyler, LaVetta Mayfield, The Pritchett family, and LaTonya Bacon - great nieces, Kenya Bedenfield and Kisha Greene, lifelong friends Geraldine Virges, Deborah Bacon, Carol Washington, Marci MaCarthy, Gwen Thomas, and Ragene Adams, friends and family she grew to love in Grand Rapids, MI, The Reynolds Family, The Johnson Family, and friends at Sheldon Apartments.
Ms. Carol Collins is preceded in death by her mother, Adeline Odessa Collins; 3 sisters, Janet Burgen, Shirley Fortt, and Paula Pritchett; and 1 brother, Anthony Collins.
We will miss you so much. We will especially miss hearing your sweet voice when you call us every day saying "Hey, this your momma," or "this is your granny" as if we didn't know your voice or who you were. We will miss you cursing us out and then saying in the same breath, "I love you."
The family would like to thank our family and friends who continue to pray for us and support us as we journey through this tough time of loss.
Our sincerest apologies, but due to COVID-19 restrictions, the family will not host a funeral service. However, we ask that when you sign the guest book, please take a moment to write down your favorite "Carol Collins" memory.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids, 616-452-3006.
