Carmen Marie Bennett

Carmen Marie Bennett, age 71, of Gowen, Michigan, passed away unexpectedly from a ruptured brain aneurysm, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at Corewell Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The daughter of Harold William & Phyllis Marie (Kellogg) Johnson, she was born on June 16, 1953, in Sheridan, Michigan and was a member of the 1971 class of Greenville High School. She also attended college at Montcalm Community College. She worked various jobs throughout her life, but her favorite was being Mom and Nana. On December 21, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nevada, she married Ronald Gene Bennett and together they enjoyed over twenty years of marriage. Carmen enjoyed time with her family and friends, camping, fishing, time with her cardmaking group, raising labrador puppies, and playing “words with friends” on her computer. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bruce Harold Johnson and Erik William Johnson; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert C. & Doreen J. Bennett; and a brother-in-law, Robert C. Bennett, Jr. Surviving are her husband, Ron Bennett of Gowen; her children, Billiejo & Todd Snider, Jeremy & Julie Town, Mick & Shawn Shaw, and Chris and Sarah Shaw; her step-children, Rhonda Clevenger, Rebecca & Tony Caterino, Robin & Erik Alberts, Rachel & Benjamin Richwine, TJ & Becky Lawens; twenty-six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; sister and brothers, Dawn & John Lewis, Bernie Johnson & Dawn Cramer, and Jeff Johnson & Cindy Anderson; step-mother Marcia Johnson; step-brothers and sisters, Jim &Tammy Kellogg, Linnette & Peter Edwards, Joel and Kristi Kellogg, Laurie Tyler, Luann & Jerome Feldman; sisters-in-law Susan & Michael Seif, Deborah Schultz, Patty & Gordon Ridgeway; aunt, Helen Kissel, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Honoring her wishes, no funeral services will be held, however there will be a private family celebration of Carmen’s life at a later date.
