Candice Kay (Abbey) Enbody, age 72, of Lakeview, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 2, 2026, surrounded by loved ones as she crossed over to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to join her husband, Tom, in eternity.
Candice was born on August 28, 1953, in Lakeview, Michigan, the daughter of Donald Edward Abbey and Betty Jean (Rodebaugh) Abbey. She was united in marriage to William Thomas Enbody on October 20, 1972, in Lakeview, and together they shared many years of marriage and family.
Candy was a graduate of Lakeview High School and earned her Licensed Practical Nurse degree from Montcalm Community College. She was employed as a nurse at Kelsey Memorial Hospital, where she was known for her compassion and dedication to patient care. For the final fourteen years of her life, she lovingly and selflessly devoted herself to caring for her parents.
In her free time, Candy enjoyed thrifting, attending yard sales, and reselling treasured finds on eBay. She had a keen eye for a good deal and took great joy in sharing her discoveries. Above all else, she cherished her family and the time spent with those she loved.
Candice was preceded in death by her husband, William “Tom” Enbody; her father, Donald Edward Abbey; and her grandson, Ike Enbody.
She is survived by her mother, Betty Jean Abbey, of Lakeview; her children, Robert (Stephanie) Enbody and Brooke Lynn (Enbody) Sheppard; and her step-sons, whom she loved dearly, Thomas (Jeanie) Enbody, William “Bud” Enbody, and Lee (Kathy) Enbody.
She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren: Kelly Lynn; Izzy, CeCe, Hudson, Ben, Elizabeth, and Raymond; Zac; and Jacob, Kayla, Tommy, William, and Garrett Enbody.
Additional survivors include her siblings: Ginger Imhoff; Barbara (RJ) Bailey; Patty (Jack) Strand; Billie (Jack) Abbey; and Donald Abbey Jr. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, including Abbey (Tim) Enbody, Raymon Grigg, Max Bell, and Carson Abbey, as well as extended family members and friends.
Candice was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, infectious laugh, and incredible sense of humor by all who were blessed to know her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date this summer.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Corewell Health Hospice for their compassionate care, and for the amazing support provided by her nurse, Michael, and social worker, Ashley.
