Bruce Robert Woodman, age 80, of Crystal, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2024 at his home under the loving care of his family and MyMichigan Home Hospice. The son of Robert Cecil & Olive Mae (Bogart) Woodman, he was born on January 27, 1944 in Belding and graduated from DeWitt High School.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Bruce served in Germany during the Vietnam War era and on October 29, 1966, in Grand Ledge, he married Sharon Lee Holmes. Together they made their home in Haslett for two years, then moved to the family farm in Crystal where they raised their two sons. They enjoyed nearly 58 years of marriage while Bruce worked at General Motors Fisher Body plant in Lansing. Bruce was a avid hunter and outdoorsman, and a life member of the National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Woodman of Crystal; two sons, Brian & Victoria Woodman of Crystal and Chief Warrant Officer Blaine Woodman serving with the U.S. Army at Colorado Springs, Colorado; five grandchildren, Brennen & Kaelynn Woodman, Mitch & Abby Vining, Victor Woodman, McKinley Woodman & Iman Hearing, and Rainier Woodman, one great-granddaughter, Brylee; a brother, Doug & Erma Jo Woodman of Carson City; siblings-in-law, Sue & Terry Leverett, Sandy Farr, and Stewart Holmes; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, great grandbaby, several uncles and aunts.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Bruce’s life beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at the Crystal Congregational Church, 300 S. Main Street, Crystal, with Pastors William Ronald Toliver and Reid Martin offering a brief ceremony and military honors rendered by the United States Army. Burial will take place privately at Crystal Cemetery at a later date.
