It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Brian Roy Williamson, a man of many talents and boundless love. Born August 10, 1962, in Grand Rapids, MI, Brian was a force of nature, infusing every corner of his world with life, laughter, and music. His departure on August 23, 2024, leaves a void that can never truly be filled, though the echo of his laughter and the melody of his guitar will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew him.
Brian's life was a symphony of love and adventure, a testament to the power of a loving heart and a supportive spirit. A talented, smart, and capable man, Brian was not just a talented craftsman, but also an accomplished musician, entertaining audiences with his singing and guitar playing. He was a former high school wrestling star, a renowned deer and rabbit hunter, an avid gardener, and a skillful woodworker. Yet it was his role as a loving and attentive grandfather that brought him the most joy. As Victor Hugo once said, "To love or have loved, that is enough. Ask nothing further. There is no other pearl to be found in the dark folds of life." Brian's pearl was the love he shared with his grandchildren, Harlee, Jordyn, and Owen.
Brian's legacy lives on through his sons, Jake and Nick Williamson, his mother, Selma, his sisters, Laura / Barry Merwin, and Kelly / Clyde Lewis, his brother, John / Paula Williamson, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Tom and his brother Mark. We borrow the words of Henry Scott Holland to remember Brian: "Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away to the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are." Brian Williamson, your melody will continue to play on in the hearts of all who loved you.
In honoring Brian's life, we invite you to share your memories and upload photos of him on his memorial page. Each story and image shared will help us celebrate and remember the remarkable man that was Brian Williamson.
