Bonnie Pauly

Bonnie Sue (Boettcher) Pauly, age 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 23, 2021, in Boulder Creek Assisted Living, Rockford, Michigan. The daughter of Edwin and Mabel (Elowsky) Boettcher, Bonnie was born September 1, 1941 in Flint, Michigan. On her 21st birthday, September 1, 1962 she married the love of her life, Harold Pauly. God brought them together to meet at a wedding and they enjoyed 59 wonderful years of marriage along with the blessing of their two children, Randy and Becky. Bonnie lived in Flint until the age of 4 at which time her family moved to Hillman, Michigan where she grew up on the family dairy farm. After graduating from Hillman High School, she took some business classes in Flint. She then worked in the office at Besser Company in Alpena until she got married to Harold who was headed into the Army. She accompanied him to bases in Virginia, Alabama and Mineral Wells Texas. Upon returning to Michigan, they resided in the Flint area for Harold's job with General Motors. When the kids started school, Bonnie then went on to work 13 years at Fisher Body Coldwater Road plant until 1987. Bonnie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Bonnie was a fantastic cook, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, ceramics, and crafting of any kind. She also enjoyed playing cards, all games and camping. She had a big heart, a beautiful smile, a sweet and patient spirit, kindness towards others, and welcomed everyone she met. They attended Mount Olive Lutheran Church and United in Christ Lutheran Church in Flint as she loved her Lord and Savior. She passed that love on to her children and grandchildren. Bonnie believed in God's words from John 3:16, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Now she is at peace and in glory in heaven with Jesus. She always had wise words for her family and they looked up to her as an amazing role model. Even though Bonnie had numerous medical issues over the years, including being a 30 year survivor of breast cancer and uterine cancer and over 20 years living with Parkinson's, she never complained and always kept a positive outlook. She had a heart of gratitude, a joy for life, thankfulness on her lips, and blessings beyond measure. Harold and Bonnie enjoyed traveling throughout the states. One of their most memorable trips was traveling to Hawaii for 3 weeks in 1981 where they enjoyed the beauty of the islands and made some great memories with their family and long time family friends, Rollin and Dolores Coutchie. Bonnie's name will not be found in the history books. Her name will be permanently inscribed on the hearts, minds, and souls of numerous, diverse people, family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and all others who she befriended, do to her ability to listen, and give thoughtful guidance. Her family is thankful that her name is printed in gold letters in the heavenly Book of Life and that one day they will be back together. Bonnie is very much loved and survived by her dedicated husband, Harold Wayne Pauly; she will be missed and always in the hearts of her children, Randy (Margaret) Pauly, Becky (Bruce) Coutchie; cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth (fiance Tyler) Pauly, Kristen (Phil) Allen, Amber Pauly, Kayla (Chris) Dohrmann, Kristi Coutchie, Kyle (Danielle) Coutchie; and her great- grandchild, Cohen Coutchie. She left a wonderful legacy for her family. Bonnie will also be missed by many dear nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends. Bonnie is proceeded in death by her parents, Edwin and Mabel Boettcher; In-laws, Erhardt and Elizabeth Pauly; brother, Darwin Boettcher; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruby and Ray Altman; nieces, Lori Hanson, Diane Szmulia, and Kathy Karsten; special cousin Linda Brandt. Bonnie will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan where a service for immediate family will be held at a future date.
