Loved deeply and missed beyond words, Bonnie A. Hudson passed away peacefully at the age of 68 in Coopersville, Michigan, on January 18, 2026. She went into the loving arms of Jesus with her daughters by her side.
Bonnie was born on July 21, 1957. She graduated from Grant High School in 1975 and later earned her master’s degree in public administration from Grand Valley State University. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Grand Valley State University for several years and retired in 2020.
Bonnie was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who brought love, laughter, and joy into the lives of everyone who knew her. She was unapologetically herself, leaving a trail of laughter wherever she went. Bonnie was a resilient and independent woman who overcame many personal challenges throughout her life. She enjoyed craft shows, long walks, keeping up with the latest celebrity gossip, and was a longtime fan of the Detroit Lions and the Detroit Tigers. Bonnie spent many years collecting carousels and was proud to display them. She was Rick Springfield’s biggest fan and attended many of his concerts. She loved to travel and was grateful to have visited Australia and Rome twice.
Bonnie is survived by her daughters, Amber Bouwkamp (Ryan) and Hayley Start (Ricky Boersema); her grandchildren, Ethan, Austin, Isabelle, Elliana, Grayson, and Theo; her siblings, Helen Gibson (Colin), Steve Hudson, and Michael Ireland; and her nieces and nephews, who will forever cherish her memory. She was preceded in death by her mother, Phyllis Ireland; stepfather, Jim Ireland; stepsister, Sue Ann Wright; stepbrother, Cork Hansen; sister-in-law, Deb Hudson; and special cousin, Hope Noordhoek.
A special and heartfelt thank you to Fountain View Assisted Living and its caregivers for their genuine love and care for our mom, and to The Medical Team Hospice for keeping her comfortable over the past two months. We are eternally grateful.
A memorial service will be announced at a later time.
