It is a day of rejoicing in the midst of sorrow, as Bonnie Mae (Blink) Dorsey of Rockford, met her Savior face-to-face on Sunday, February 7, 2016. Bonnie, age 65, was born in Gary, IN on November 18, 1950. She never wanted it said that she "lost her battle to cancer." Rather, "she victoriously left this world to be with her Lord and Savior."
Bonnie will be fondly remembered by her husband of 43 years, Richard Dorsey; children, Kimberly (Dan) Korhorn of Rockford, Lisa (Ben) Perry of Rockford, and Jonathan (Lindsay) Dorsey of Grand Rapids; grandchildren, Samuel Perry, Emma Korhorn, Jacob Perry, Lilyanna Korhorn, Jonathan Perry; mother, Altamae Blink of Highland, IN; sister, Barbara Blink of High Point, NC; nephew, Michael Blink of Indianapolis, IN and aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
The onset of Bonnie's illness came suddenly and progressed rapidly, but she was at peace with her cancer diagnosis and eager to go to Heaven, where she looked forward to being reunited with her father, Willis Blink; her brother, Duane Blink; and her Grandma Hazel Herring.
In 1972 Bonnie married the love of her life, Richard Dorsey, and was proud to serve alongside him in the Christian ministry. Bonnie accepted Christ as Savior at Crystal Lake Baptist Camp at a young age. She valued Christian camp ministry so much that she helped fund the way for her grandchildren to attend, and also partnered with her husband, who was on staff at Lake Ann Camp.
Bonnie's children and grandchildren will remember her as a supportive, sacrificial mom and grandma who loved to watch them participate in sports and other activities. She even prided herself on spoiling her grandkids, and was always there when they needed her. She worked at Amway Corp. as a project manager in order to support her children's attendance at Christian school. She was proud of her Christian heritage and passed that on to her kids and grandkids. She always prayed that she would see her kids grow to be adults and accept Christ as Savior; she felt greatly blessed, not only with witnessing the answer to that prayer, but with seeing her grandkids accept Christ as Savior as well. Bonnie served as a leader in the AWANA program with her kids and later with her grandkids. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church of Highland, IN; Emmanuel Baptist Church of Toledo, OH; and, most recently, Trinity Baptist Church of Grand Rapids, MI.
Bonnie Dorsey will be severely missed by those who knew and loved her, but they are secure in their hope that they will see her again in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, the family recommends donations to the Lake Ann Camp scholarship fund, or to the Trinity Baptist Church camp scholarship fund.
