Beverly J. Moore, age 76, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023. Bev was born on December 27, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan to Marion Elizabeth Prock and estranged father Lorayne Prock. Her mother later remarried Sidney Huitema who raised her from the age of five. Bev married twice; first to Robert Lyle in 1966, with whom she had her daughters Rebecca and Ronda, and later remarried to the love of her life, Jerry Moore in 1974; with whom she had her third daughter, Melissa. She is preceded in death by both, Jerry having passed in 1994 and Robert passing in 2020.
Bev was a fighter and will always be remembered for her tenacity and spunk. Her death comes at the end of over three years of battling cancer, her body giving out long before her spirit would have. She was a woman with an immense amount of love to give; in addition to raising her daughters and having nine grandchildren, she served as a billet for the Plymouth Whalers for 15 years, giving numerous young men a second home as they pursued their dreams of playing hockey professionally as she attended the majority off all games. Bev worked in the waste/trash removal and landfill management industry for more than four decades and finally retired in 2018. Even in her senior years, she always dressed to impress and had a closet full of cloths and footwear that she enjoyed and said kept her feeling younger than her actual age. She had many hobbies, which included making her own jewelry, collecting Snowbabies figurines, watching her favorite shows from the Hallmark channel, Forensic Files, Hell's Kitchen and the Voice but mostly Bev was an avid reader that enjoyed crime fiction, mystery & thrillers and could often be found engrossed in the adventures of Alex Cross and Jack Reacher.
In her older years she was known to all as Granny Bev, now in her passing she leaves four children: Rebecca (Rick) Waters, Ronda (Aric) Pruitt-Humphreys and Melissa (William) Smith, as well as her hockey son, Libor (Angela) Ustrnul; nine grandchildren including Christopher (Jade) Dow, Kathleen (Henry) Noffsinger, Kenneth (Terri-Lynn) Logan Jr., Kevin Havener, Richard (Lindsey) Logan, Shelby (Aaron Sneath) Logan, Will (Michelle Gershon) Waters, Vanessa (Allen Fernatt) Waters-Johnson and Turner (Jessica) Waters; and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Beverly is also survived by her older sister Donna (Walter) Motte; nieces Kristen Dunn and Leigh Ann Noon; her cousin that was more like a sister, Kathy (Nicholas) Petlicke; and her closest friend for over 50 years Carol Neilan, who now lives in Connecticut. Along with her immediate family she is also survived by half-siblings she had located in the state of Washington within the last 10 years during her ancestry research: Paula (David) Koenig, Ronald Prock and Marilyn (Charles) Thompson. She also leaves many great nieces, nephews, other cousins from multiple generations and dear friends she made throughout her life. Beverly was preceded in death not only by her parents and both spouses, but also the passing of her nephews Gary Noon, Dale Noon and niece Carrie Noon Luoma.
A celebration of life will be held in Granny Bev's honor this coming summer when the weather is warm, and the flowers are abundant as she enjoyed them immensely. Further details will be shared with all family and friends as they become available.
