Mrs. BettyLou Snyder, age 75, of Grattan, passed away Tuesday evening, May 13, 2008 under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Michigan at her daughters home in Grattan.
The daughter of James Harvey and Mary Elizabeth (Packard) Briggs, she was born on March 18, 1933 in McBrides. After graduating from Greenville High School in 1951, she married Gene R. Synder on July 14, 1951 in Greenville.
A devoted wife and mother, BettyLou always placed her family before herself. She was a long time member of the First Church of God in Greenville, where she taught Sunday School, in addition to being active in Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts with her children. An avid reader and gardener, she was also a skilled seamstress -- having sewn the wedding dresses for all four of her daughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 55 years, Gene Snyder on March 30, 2006; and a son, Timothy James Snyder on Dec. 30, 2006.
Surviving are her children, Melody & Jerry Powell of Grattan, Brook & V. Carl Hansen of Greenville, Robin Morrison of Grattan, Heidi & Randy Pettiet of Texas, Thomas & Judi Snyder, Theodore & Mary Snyder, all of Greenville, and Brenda Snyder of North Dakota; her grandchildren, Aaron, Aavram, Aabett, Samantha, Debbie, Kim, Patty, Andrea, Amy, Jeanne, V. Carl III, Edward, Hannah, Joshua, Shane, Stephanie, Jared, Jason, Daniel, Lee, Betsy, Steve, Kayleen, Koralynn, Teddy, Isaac, Miranda, and Xylahbrook; many, many great grandchildren; siblings-in-law, Allene Wheelock, Leona Neitzel, J.C. & Dorothy Snyder, all of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. May 17, 2008 at the Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville. The Rev. David Perry, pastor of the Greenville First Church of God, will officiate.
Visitation is on Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home, where envelopes for memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan or the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation will be available.
