Betty Jean Rickle, age 85, of Greenville, passed away Saturday morning, October 8, 2011 at Metron of Greenville. The daughter of Lyle George & Leola Belle (Boyce) Emmons, she was born on August 23, 1926 in Greenville. She was a proud graduate of the Class of 1944 of Greenville High School and on September 12, 1945, at her parents home, she married Arthur L. Rickle following his discharge from the U.S. Navy after World War II. Together, Betty and Art enjoyed over 60 years of marriage and raised three children. Betty enjoyed traveling, golf, and league bowling. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur L. "Art" Rickle on January 13, 2006; and a brother, Robert L. "Bob" Emmons. Surviving are her three children, Linda Bitner, Randy & Sherry Rickle, and Kevin A. & Kendra Rickle, all of Greenville; nine grandchildren, Lisa Hill, Lori Bitner, Heather Bitner, Holly Bitner, Tricia & Tom Slavens, Nathan Rickle, Joseph Rickle, Tara Rickle, and Bryce Rickle; eleven great grandchildren, Amanda Cass, Jonae Tabor, Desiree Bitner, Trey Chapin, Cameron Patrick Misner, Eris Alain Misner, Aaron Arthur Rickle, Aiden Jaye Rickle, Owen James Rickle, Dylan Daniel McCoy, and Madilyn Ramona Slavens; two great-great grandchildren, Corbin Tabor and Jocelyn "JD" Rookus; a sister, Eleanor Gallagher of Greenville; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Emmons of Greeville: special nieces and nephews, Debbie Gallagher, Becky Knapp, Jeff & Catrina Emmons, and Sharon Kay Hilliker, as well as many other nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. on Monday at the Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rev. Jerry Jones, pastor of the First Congregational Church, will officiate and burial will take place privately at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding. Envelopes for memorial contributions to either the Patient Activities Fund at Metron of Greenville or Hospice of Michigan will be available at the funeral home.
