April 20, 1931 — September 26, 2006

Mr. Bernard M. "Bernie" Tomasik, age 75, of Comstock Park, passed away early Tuesday morning, Sept. 26, 2006 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. The son of Casmir "Charlie" & Stella (Kowalczyk) Tomasik, he was born on April 20, 1931 in Grand Rapids. A Korean Conflict era veteran, he served with the U.S. Air Force band and was stationed in Washington, D.C. On Nov. 6, 1954, in Grand Rapids, he married Della Ruth Holland. He was a member of the Scottville Clown Band, the American Legion, and the West Michigan Jazz Society. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Tomasik; his children, Lisa (Tom) Tible, Iris (Patrick) LeMasters, Mark (Ximena) Tomasik, David (Andrea) Tomasik, and Donna Tomasik; a brother, Norbert; 9 grandchildren and 3 greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Zaskowski, and a brother, Leon Tomasik. The Mass of Christian Burial is at 12:00 Noon on Friday, Sept. 29, 2006 from the chapel of the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans, 3000 Monroe Avenue N.E., Grand Rapids, with the Rev. Father Rock Badgerow as celebrant and military honors being rendered by the Kent County Veterans Honor Guard.
