Bernice Augusta Farrell, age 97, of Orleans, formerly of Palo, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023 at Country Living Adult Foster Care in Portland. The daughter of Albert & Louise B. (Lietzke) Cook, she was born on April 10, 1926 in DeWitt, Michigan. After graduating high school, she worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" to support the war effort during World War II at the General Motors plant in Lansing. She raised four children and also worked outside the home at the former Electrolux Home Products in Greenville, retiring after 38 years of service. She had been a member of the former United Methodist Church in Palo, volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America - starting as a den mother with her sons, and was very active with the Palo Memorial Day celebration, helping organize the parade and cemetery remembrance ceremony for many years. She was preceded in death by her parents; her only brother, Richard Cook; her former husband, Raymond Farrell; and her youngest son, David S. Farrell. Surviving are her children, Linda Munday of Portland, Janet & John Doty of Peru, Indiana, James & Namhui Farrell of Kentwood, and Dawn Farrell of Orleans; eleven grandchildren, Art & Dani Perry, Todd & Gail Munday, Eric & Anitra Whalon, Shane Perry, Jamie & Mark Noe, Jeremiah & Colleen Farrell, Jessica & Justin Hopkins, Joshua & Misty Farrell, Kylie Farrell, Patrick Farrell, and Victoria Farrell; seventeen great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at Country Crossroads Wesleyan Church, 8055 Castle Road at M-57, Sheridan, with Pastor Corey Burns officiating.
