Bernard Michael Czuk, known affectionately as Bernie, passed away on July 29, 2024, at the age of 71 in Vandalia, Michigan. Born on June 8, 1953, in Kalamazoo, Michigan, Bernie grew up in a close-knit family and attended Parchment schools for his primary and secondary education.
Bernie was a certified mechanic with a particular expertise in outboard motor mechanics. His career spanned several decades during which he skillfully repaired cars, small engines, and boats. Bernie's mechanical aptitude was matched by his diverse hobbies, which included riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, cooking, and repairing small engines. A true enthusiast, he also cherished music, dancing and vinyl records over the years.
Bernie's personality was as vibrant as his interests. An avid dog lover, he spent much of his time outdoors, whether tending to his land, fishing, or hunting. Known for his charismatic presence, Bernie could often be found sharing stories that captivated his listeners, making new friends, and being the life of any gathering. His love for conversation and connection made him a beloved figure in his community.
He is survived by his two daughters and their families. Bernie was preceded in death by his father, Peter Czuk, his mother, Lottie Czuk, and his brother, Paul Czuk.
A celebration of Bernie's life will be held this fall, with more details to be announced. His legacy of warmth, friendship, and mechanical prowess will be remembered by all who knew him.
