Basil Flowers

Basil Harry Flowers, age 67, of Grand Rapids, formerly of Greenville, passed away Wednesday morning, October 5, 2016 at The Lodge at Samaritis in Grand Rapids. The son of Harry B. & Velta Ione (Vredenberg) Flowers, he was born on May 4, 1949 in Lakeview and had attended Greenville Public Schools. Basil had a lifelong appreciation for music and especially enjoyed Southern Gospel songs. He delighted in attending concerts with family, shopping, visiting the library and bookstores. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry B. Flowers on February 28, 1998; his mother, Velta I. Flowers on September 28, 2003; and a sister, Rose Goodwin on August 13, 1997. Surviving are three sisters, Betty & Dale Greeno of Shelby, Beverly & Jack Ralph of Sheridan, and Lucy & Jack Hansing of Gowen; a brother-in-law, David Goodwin of Greenville; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Private funeral services will be held on Monday at Christiansen Cremation & Funeral Care, 511 S. Franklin Street, Greenville, with the Rev. Phillip Mills, pastor of the Greenville Bible Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.
