Barbara Vandam

Barbara L. VanDam walked into the arms of her savior on December 28, 2023. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on November 12, 1955. She found joy in being outdoors, reveling in God’s creation. Camping in the Manistee National Forest was among her favorite places. Despite her body holding her back, her spirit never would. A few weeks ago she shared a story about her faith. As a young woman she attempted suicide. Upon reaching heaven, Jesus said to her, “It’s not your time yet. I’ll come get you when it’s your time.” And so, she returned to a life filled with challenges, which she overcame to show those around her love, patience, and more grace than most of us deserved. Barb formed friendships wherever she went, even during her classes at GRCC with peers half her age. Yet, she cherished lasting friendships throughout her lifetime. In accordance with her wishes, her body has been donated to science. Her friends and family invite everyone to celebrate her spirit and life on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 10:00 am at ReDefine Church. 130 N. Luray St. Greenville Mi, 48838.
