Barbara Underwood

Barbara Jean Underwood, age 85, of Lakeview, passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Spectrum Health-Kelsey Hospital in Lakeview. The daughter of Albert Jay & Margaret Emma (Schultz) Hoisington, she was born on October 15, 1936 in Alaska, Michigan and was a 1954 graduate of Belding High School. On December 11, 1954, in Belding, she married Frank Harold Underwood and together they raised three children and enjoyed nearly 47 years of marriage until Frank passed away on November 10, 2001. Barbara retired from the Belding Products plant of the former Electrolux Home Products where she worked in the office. Barb enjoyed gardening and was a member of the T.O.P.S. group in Lakeview, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars posts in Lakeview and Six Lakes, and New Life United Methodist Church in Six Lakes. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Randall Lee "Randy" Underwood on August 18, 2014; a sister, Alice Bowen; and two brothers, Nelson Hoisington and Floyd Hoisington. Surviving are her daughter, Glenda L. Underwood of Greenville; a son; a sister, Beverly & Tom Verburg; a sister-in-law, Lucille Hoisington; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Honoring her wishes, private graveside services will be held at East Montcalm Cemetery. Instead of flowers, Barbara would have appreciated contributions in her memory to the charity of ones' choice.
