Barbara Ann (Barker) Kelley died on February 1, 2001 from complications she received in an automobile accident on January 27, 2011. She was born July 26, 1936, the daughter of Donald H. & Mary K. Barker. Barbara worked in food service most of her life and was also a housekeeper for Holy Cross Rectory before she retired. She graduated from Haslett High School in 1955. She lived at Grange Acres for over 13 years and was really happy there. At one time, she was a member of the Guardian Angels and a member of Capital Grange #540 as a lecturer and American Legion Auxiliary Captain Stephen W. Frank Unit 269 in Haslett. Barbara enjoyed playing bingo and bunko, was always reading books and magazines, watching her T.V. programs and doing word search puzzles. She had pen-pals from all over the United States and really enjoyed receiving letters from them. Barbara also had a very special friend who she wrote to who graduated from Haslett High School, Sandra Kay (Harper) Marrow, from Glenavy, Ireland. Barb was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Victoria Kelley. She is survived by her daughters, Valetta and DeEtta Kelley from Lansing; a son Donald T. (Connie) Kelley from Earlsboro, Oklahoma; grandsons Robert Paul Kelley from Lansing and Sean Kelley from Oklahoma; a great-granddaughter Eden Michelle Kelley from Lansing; and sister Donna (Darrell) Palmer from Haslett; and also several cousins, nieces and nephews. Barbara's family wishes to thank Cypress Home Health Care and the Council on Aging for their constant help and care of Barbara. Memorial Service will be held on April 30, 2011 at 12:00 noon at the Grange Acres Community Center (located at Grange Acres on the corner of Hillcurve which turns into Hodge St. -- located on the corner of Hodge and Taylor). Officiating will be Pastor Wes Emerson of the Freedom Community Church in Leslie.
