Barbara Jean (Eilers) Cheever, age 84, of Ada, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, May 20, 2019. She was born on October 16, 1934, on the farm in New Era, Michigan, to the late Lewis and Ethel (Schultz) Eilers. Barb graduated from Montague High School with the Class of 1952. She married Roy Cheever and together they had four children before Roy passed away on October 6, 1987.
Barb was known for having some of the best cooking around. She has legendary recipes that people would call and ask for. Barb loved going to the casino and most of all spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family was her life!
Survivors include her four children, Lori (Kent) Depuydt, Sally (Jim) Miller, Julie Cheever, and Randy (Karen) Cheever; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty Field, Pat White, and Margaret (Jerry) Leutzinger; brothers-in-law, Lyle (Betty) Cheever and Jack (Ann) Cheever; sisters-in-law, Louise Eilers and Paula Eilers; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roy; great-granddaughter, Amelia; and siblings, John, Francis, Marilyn, and Russ.
Per Barb's wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be celebrated at a later date.
Barb's family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Kindred Hospice especially Miriam who was so kind and helpful through this difficult time.
