Barbara Jean "Jeanie" (Hays) Bond, 70, of Augusta, Michigan, passed away on July 27, 2026.
Jeanie was born on October 21, 1955, in Chester, Illinois, to Robert "Lloyd" Hays and Helen Kathleen (Mays) Hays.
She graduated from Steeleville High School and later attended Belleville Area College, studying accounting and tutoring fellow students in the subject. Jeanie worked as a payroll clerk at Little Nashville and later held administrative positions at Penn Aluminum.
A lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, Jeanie found joy in life's simple pleasures and treasured time spent with family and friends. As a child, she spent summers at her family's cabin in Snow Hollow Lake, Missouri, where she loved fishing, swimming, and gathering with loved ones. As an adult, she enjoyed boating on Kinkaid Lake and was a loyal St. Louis Cardinals fan. Jeanie had a special love for animals, particularly her dogs, whom she cherished and spoiled as family. During the final two years of her life, she lived with her daughter, Cindy, in Michigan, where she enjoyed new friendships, family gatherings, and the love and care of those closest to her. She will be remembered for her kindness, fun loving nature, and free spirit.
Jeanie was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Lloyd Hays, and her brother, Don Hays.
She is survived by her daughter, Cindy (Matt) Darling-Romain; her son, Andy Dilday; and her beloved grandchildren, Madelyn Dilday, Ian Darling-Romain, and Isaac Darling-Romain.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Steeleville United Methodist Church in Steeleville, IL. A luncheon will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Autism Speaks. https://www.autismspeaks.org/
