Avis Rachel Wood

Avis Rachel Wood of Climax, MI passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, surrounded by her family. Avis was born in Kalamazoo, MI on April 8, 1984.

Avis graduated from East Chambers High School in Texas in 2003. She married Jake Wood on June 10, 2006. She was a devoted stay-at-home mom to their three children, who were truly her whole world. She poured her heart into raising them, always making sure they felt loved, supported, and cared for in every way.

Avis had a love for music and rarely went a day without listening to it. She also had a soft spot for animals - she could never resist bringing home a new pet, whether it was a bird, hamster, bunny, dog, or cat.

Avis will be remembered for the love she had for her family, and her presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished.

Avis is survived by her husband, Jake Wood; her children Shane Allen, Jacob Wood, and Abbi Wood; her mother Pat Allen; her sister Kady (Jim) Allen; along with aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents Gert and Charlie Allen.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the Climax American Legion at noon.
