Arthur Galloway

Arthur Robert "Art" Galloway, age 94, of Greenville, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020 at his home under the loving care of his family and Spectrum Health Hospice. The son of Frank & Bessie May (VanVlerah) Galloway, he was born on Independence Day, July 4, 1926 in Greenville. A veteran of World War II, Art proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of the Lester J. Sitts Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5065 in Sheridan and the Ray I. Booth American Legion Post 101 in Greenville. On September 22, 1948, in Belding, he married Imogene Marion "Jean" Allen. Together they raised two children, attended Shiloh Community Church, and enjoyed 69 years of marriage until Jean passed away on September 24, 2017. Art retired from Federal-Mogul Corporation in Greenville after 42 years of service, and in retirement, Art & Jean spent their winters in Florida, where Art enjoyed repairing bicycles. At home in Greenville, he also was a professional bee keeper for many years, collecting honey and also helping local orchards pollinate their fruit crops, as well as being involved in casting, firing, and painting ceramics. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jean Galloway; two brothers, James Galloway and Marion Galloway; and three sisters, Ruth Sinclair, Mary Galloway, and Jane Lorand. Surviving are his children, Bob Galloway of Greenville, and Sandy & Doug Beek of Byron Center; six grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, DeElda Martin of Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family is from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Shiloh Community Church, 8197 Heth Street, Orleans, where memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rev. Kenneth Harger, retired pastor of Shiloh Community Church, will officiate and military honors will conclude the ceremonies.
