Arnold Paolucci

Arnold L. Paolucci, 91 of Grand Rapids, formally of Bad Axe, died Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. He was born March 22, 1926 in Bonners Ferry, Idaho, son of the late Rosi and the late Amelia Paolucci. Due to the onset of WWII, Arnold left school to enlist in the United States Army in February of 1943. He served in the Pacific until December of 1946. Arnold Paolucci and Lucille Smith were united in marriage on April 9, 1977 in Chicago, Illinois. Arnold was a loveable man who could always put a smile on your face. He enjoyed cooking, woodworking, painting ceramics, going to the casino, playing cards and scratch-off tickets. More importantly, he loved spending time with his family. He will forever be remembered for his playful nature, storytelling, and famous spaghetti dinners. Surviving are his children Shirley (Don) Miller, Doris Jones, Donna (Wayne) Loeding, Ilene (Bob) Bellant, Barbara (friend Tim) Shoemaker, Edna Alexander, Bonnie (Mike) Goretski, Melvin (Sherrie) Smith, Ronnie (Bonnie) Smith, Kathy Easley, Leslie (Robert) Ameling, William Paolucci; 32 grand children; 82 great-grand children; 40 great-great grand children; many very special nieces, nephews, his best friend Tony, and a wonderful extended family who treated him as their own for the last 8 years at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Lucille Paolucci; brothers, Eugene, Henry, Bob, & Deno Paolucci; sisters Amy Rock & Clara Sisk. Honoring Arnold's wishes, cremation has taken place at Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care in Grand Rapids. Memorial mass will be held Friday, July 21, 2017 at 1pm in the chapel at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Father Vu will be officiating. Arnold will be laid to rest following the memorial at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans. Visitation with the family will be from noon until the time of service at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans.
