Arnold Lester Hazelton, age 87, of Greenville, passed away early Thursday morning, July 26, 2018 at Spectrum Health-Kelsey Hospital in Lakeview. The son of Lester J. & Amanda M. (Olson) Hazleton, he was born on June 9, 1931 in Erherd, Minnesota. Following his graduation from high school, he proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era.
On August 28, 1965, in Stanton, he married the former Mary Edna (Watson) Strecker and together they enjoyed almost 53 years of marriage. Arnold had worked in maintenance at the former Ore-Ida Foods plant in Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Mildred Hazelton; a daughter, Sandy Perkins; and a grandson, Larry "Chopper" Sherman. Surviving are his wife, Mary Hazelton; two daughters, Ann Bow of Trufant, and Madeline & Jerry Troupe of Morley; a son, Clarence & Pam Strecker of Greenville; a sister, Maxine Helms of Lakeview; eight grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Honoring his wishes, no services will be held and burial will take place privately at Rest Haven Memory Gardens in Belding. Instead of flowers, contributions in memory of Arnold may be directed to Great Lakes Caring Hospice (http://www.greatlakescaring.com).
