Anne Michelle Ohman, of Gowen, passed away at age 57 on Monday, January 25, 2021 at Spectrum Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids from complications following an unexpected brain aneurysm.
She was born in Ludington on Thursday, November 7, 1963 as the youngest daughter of James Carl & Mary Nell (Rath) Varenhorst, Sr.
A testament to her dedication and work ethic, at the time of her death Anne had been employed as a department manager at Walmart in Greenville for over 15 years. She was well-liked and enjoyed close and caring relationships with a number of coworkers, who remember her fondly for her sense of humor and giving nature, always greeting them with a bright smile and a warm hug.
At home she was a devout Lions fan, who during the off season loved spending warm summer days fishing or boating on the lake. Christmas was always a special occasion to Anne, who devoted herself to spoiling loved ones with thoughtful gifts and the perfect prime rib dinner - no thanks necessary. When asked what she wanted for Christmas, she always replied, "seeing everyone smile is my gift."
On December 21, 2001, she wed her longtime sweetheart Steven Michael Ohman in Las Vegas, Nevada, and together they enjoyed nearly 20 years of marriage.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Varenhorst.
She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Steve Ohman of Gowen; two daughters, Kendra & David French of Kalamazoo, and Michelle Ferrell of Grand Rapids; two granddaughters, Alyda Varenhorst and Shara Varenhorst of Ludington; her father, James C. Varenhorst, Sr. of Grand Rapids; her sisters, Theresa Garland and Diane & Jerry Shangle of Ludington; her brothers, Thomas & Eve Varenhorst of Ludington, and James & Jamie Varenhorst, Jr. of Holland; several beloved nieces and nephews; and many cherished friends and co-workers.
Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Christiansen's Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Greenville, (616) 754-5638.
