Anna C. Hopkins, age 97, of Greenville, passed away Friday afternoon, July 12, 2013. The daughter of Vernon L. & Hilma Elnora (Peterson) Holmden, she was born on December 28, 1915 in Oakfield Township.
After graduating from Greenville High School in 1934, Anna worked at Wolverine World Wide glove shop in Greenville until marrying Grant E. Hopkins on January 23, 1937 near Westville. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage, were long-time members of the First United Methodist Church in Greenville, and together enjoyed fishing. Anna had been active in the Homemakers Class, the Greenville Senior Center, and enjoyed sewing and helping the visually impaired.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Grant E. Hopkins on April 3, 1998; their only son, Howard A. Hopkins on July 31, 2000; a sister and brother-in-law, Viola & Ralph Tanner; and a brother and sister-in-law, Clare V. & Mary Anne Holmden.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Marie Hopkins of Kentwood; many dear nieces and nephews including Laura & Larry Engel of Stanton, Doris & Kenneth Pellow of Sheridan, Janet & Jerry Waldorf of Greenville, Greg & Verna Holmden of Gowen, and Susan & Jerry Weiss of Arizona; and special friends, Jack & Linda Monje, and Dorothy Sampson, all of Greenville.
Visitation is Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 204 W. Cass Street at S. Franklin Street, Greenville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. Pastor Steve Charnley will officiate and burial will take place privately at Rest Haven Memory Gardens, Belding.
