Ann B. Laper, age 73, of Greenville, passed away Sunday afternoon, May 25, 2014 at The Laurels of Kent in Lowell. She was born on August 5, 1940 to Everett Victor & Dorothy (Johnson) Hammer in St. Paul, Minnesota. On April 20, 1956, in St. Paul, she married Charles Robert Laper and together they enjoyed 58 years of marriage and raised six children, as well as being the adopted mother and grandmother to countless children.
A devoted wife and mother, she will be remembered by her family as an excellent cook, an imaginative storyteller, and as the best wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Ann was a voracious reader, enjoyed painting, playing board games with her family, her flower garden, and traveling the state of Michigan with the Muskegon lakeshore being one of her favorite spots to visit.
Surviving are her husband, Charles R. Chuck Laper, Sr. of Greenville; their children, Charles R. & Jody Laper, Jr. of Gaylord, Brenda Lutes, Albert Laper, Patricia Laper, Kathleen Laper, all of Greenville, and Marnie & Mike Kronkowski of Ionia; seven grandchildren, Charles R. & Kayce Laper III of Belding, Marcie Laper, Rayne Kronkowski, Betsy Ann Laper, all of Greenville, Shelbi Frowein of Stanton, Shannon Irish of Greenville, Kaitlin & Bryan Grate of St. Charles, Mo.; two great grandsons, Aidan Slayton and Dominik Laper; and a special sister, Jan Miller of Greenville, whom she raised after their mother's passing.
Also surviving are two brothers, Richard and Alan; two sisters, April and Kim; many nieces, nephews, and cousins, as well as the many adopted children and grandchildren who held a special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty and Dixie; and two brothers, Chuck and Jack.
Honoring Anns wishes, cremation will take place and no services will be held. Instead of flowers, Ann would have appreciated contributions in her memory to the Flat River Community Library to purchase books for others to enjoy.
