Andrew Zugel

Andrew Frank Zugel, age 81, of Allegan, Michigan residing in Grand Rapids, Michigan at the time of his death, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, June 23, 2023. He was born May 15, 1942, in Allegan, Michigan, to the late John and Beatrice (Waldron) Zugel. Andrew graduated from Allegan High School with the class of 1960. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Andy was proud of his service in the air force, and traveled to visit his base in Cheyenne, WY during the summer of 2018. Andy liked to travel, and after the air force, did most of his traveling during the last 10 years of life. In his younger days, Andy enjoyed an honest day's work whether it be in the yard, helping family, or helping a neighbor. He enjoyed fishing with his dad as a boy and talked of it often. Once he was no longer able to do these things, Andy enjoyed sitting outside in the fresh air. He enjoyed going out for a nice steak dinner, having a cold beer on a hot day, drinking a good cup of coffee, and singing. It was not unusual to hear him belting out Christmas carols any time of year. He enjoyed simple things in life like family, friends, and mostly, he was grateful to God and often said he was the luckiest guy on earth. Survivors include his four children and 8 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; two brothers; one niece; one great niece; and one great nephew. Per his wishes cremation has taken place and a graveside service will take place at a later date at Hudson Corners Cemetery in Allegan, Michigan.
