Andrew Jason "Drew" Gordon, age 48, of Ionia, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2024 at University of Michigan Health -Sparrow Hospital in Lansing after a brave, but short, battle with cancer.
The son of Timothy & Karen (Winner) Gordon, he was born on December 30, 1975 in Branson, Missouri. Drew earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from Maranatha Baptist Bible College and had worked in the construction industry for most of his career… starting as a building supply sales representative, working as a carpenter and framer, and lastly as a self-employed general contractor and proprietor of AJ’s Carpentry & Storage.
A skilled craftsman, Drew delighted in wood working projects – especially when his talents could help family, friends and those in need. On June 7, 2003, at Beth Haven Baptist Church, he married Nichole Marie Patterson and together they enjoyed 21 years of marriage, were blessed with four children, and were long-time members of Beth Haven Baptist Church.
Drew was actively involved in a number of ministries at Beth Haven Baptist Church including the music orchestra, as a sound technician, teaching Sunday School, bus ministry, and volunteering with the Reformers Unanimous program. With a friend, Drew had started a program called “Edifying the Saints” to help with handyman projects for those in need. He found his greatest joy in time spent with his family.
Surviving are his parents, Timothy & Karen Gordon of Muir, his wife, Nichole “Nicki” Gordon of Ionia; their children, Emalee Gordon, Aidan Gordan, Isabelle Gordon, and Olivia Gordon, all at home; a sister, Carrie & Shane Napper of Caledonia; two brothers, Daniel & Christine Gordon of Wichita, Kansas, and Samuel Gordon of Grand Rapids; and many, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2024 at Beth Haven Baptist Church, 1158 W. Carson City Road (M-57), Sheridan, where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rev. Kevin Crowell, pastor of Beth Haven Baptist Church, will officiate and burial will follow at Eureka Township Cemetery.
Instead of flowers, please consider the future needs of Drew's children (envelopes for contributions will be available at the church and checks may be made payable to Nichole Gordon).
