Amie Brager-Larsen Siekmann, age 87, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. She was born August 13, 1935, in Olso, Norway to the late, Olmar and Ruth (Thorsen) Brager-Larsen. Amie was very proud of her Norwegian heritage even at her 87th birthday she still dressed up in her traditional Norwegian outfit for all to see.
Amie graduated from Harbor Springs High School with the class of 1953. Then, she went on to study and obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Education at the University of Michigan.
Amie was born in Oslo, Norway and lived in Paris, France until 5 years old. The family moved back to Oslo and was on the last ship out of Norway before the German invasion in WWII. After moving around the New York area, her family found paradise in Harbor Springs. There, they established a fur farm that employed multiple Norwegian refugees. Amie graduated from Harbor Springs High School and went on to study at the University of Michigan. She then married Gunnar Samson with whom she had her four children. Amie lived in multiple places in the US and world, including Boston area, Weston, Connecticut, Denmark, North Carolina and Grand Rapids.
She found the love of her life, H. Jack Siekmann and they were married in 1982. They were completely inseparable until Jack's death in 2013.
Amie was devoted to her children exposing them to the arts, music and passions that have stuck with them for life. Expanding their horizons and curiosity early in life. Her interests included bridge, sailing, travel, skiing, tennis and golf.
Amie was genuinely caring and had a unique sense of humor, both of which endeared her to many people. Her easy laugh is something all will remember.
She is survived by three children, Gunnar (Patty) Samson of Williamston; Siri (Gregg) Graves of East Grand Rapids; and Kirsten (Doug) Kelly of Haslett; and her grandchildren, Alexandra (Adam) Fehnel of East Weymouth, Massachusetts; Brianna (Rob Nava) Graves of Wheeling, Illinois; Ian and Carter Graves of East Grand Rapids; and Cameron, Chase and Reagan Kelly of Haslett.
Amie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack and her daughter, Lise Samson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Heather Hills for the care and compassion they have not only shown Amie, but also to them.
Per Amie's wishes, cremation has taken place and private family burial will be held. Her remains will be buried with her daughter, Lise at Harbor Springs Lakeview cemetery in Harbor Springs, Michigan.
