Alvin Velting

Alvin Velting, age 89, of Grand Rapids, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital surrounded by family. The son of Albert & Henrietta (Vis) Velting, he was born on November 18, 1926 in Plainwell. Alvin was an avid fisherman, spending many hours fishing at the Big Manistee River. He also was a do-it yourself type person doing many repairs himself from car work to home repairs, etc. and enjoyed gardening. Alvin was preceded in death by his wife, Marceline in 2006; son, Thomas in 2010; and daughter, Jean in 2014. Surviving are his children, Michael (Debbie) Velting, Richard (Nancy) Velting, Susan (Jim) Alles, Julie (Tom) Lindholm, Mary Hormann, and Bill (Becky) Velting; along with several grandchildren; and great grandchildren. He will be missed by his family. He will be missed by his family. Honoring his wishes, cremation will take place. Arrangements are entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids.
