Allan J. Weber, age 91, of Wyoming, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. He was born on February 27, 1930, to Dave & Betsy Weber. He was preceded in death by his parents Dave and Betsy; brothers Don, Bob, and Marty; sister Norma, and stepson, Jerry Bufka. He is survived by his life partner, Judy Bufka; step-children, Brent Bufka and Stacy Donley; sisters, Marie and Donna; and nieces and nephews.
Allan was a graduate of South High School, class of 1948. After that, he continued with 2 years of higher education, attending the Grand Rapids Junior College before entering the United States Air Force. Allan proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as a tail gunner on a B-36 "Peacemaker" strategic bomber. After his military service, he was employed as a mailman of the United States Postal Service for over 30 years until his retirement in 1985. Allan was very proud of being a 32deg Master Mason of the Scottish Rite, Eastern Star, and a lifelong member of the Grand Rapids Lodge No. 34. Allan also was a proud Legionnaire, maintaining his membership in the American Legion for 66 years. During his time there, he once was Post Commander of the Grand Rapids Metro Post #432, as well as Acting Historian.
While working at the Post Office, he met his life partner, Judy and they went on to enjoy over 40 years together. Allan always liked to laugh and have a good time with friends and family. This included getting together for drinks with his good friends, John Hunter and Bill Meyers. Other activities he enjoyed were golfing, bowling, and the occasional trips to the casino (while Allan didn't like to lose his money there, he had no problem giving Judy money to play with- knowing full well she was usually just going to lose it anyways). He will be greatly missed by all who knew him and enjoyed his sense of fun and laughter. He enjoyed talking to anybody wherever he went, and they always enjoyed him.
A graveside service will be planned later this year.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids, 616-452-3006, exclusive providers of Veterans Funeral Care.
