Albert Powell

Mr. Albert Allen Powell, age 77, of Sheridan, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 29, 2010 at Spectrum Health-Blodgett Hospital in East Grand Rapids. The son of John & Nellie (Headley) Powell, he was born on July 14, 1932 in Crystal. On July 1, 1972 he married Nancy M. Sizemore and together they enjoyed almost 38 years of marriage. For over 33 years, Albert worked as a meat cutter for Meijer, retiring from the Greenville store. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He had been a member of the Sons of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Dennis L. Powell; a brother, Orville Powell; and a sister, Pauline Simpson. Surviving are his wife, Nancy Powell of Sheridan; four children, Albert Powell Jr. of Oscoda, Laurie & Scott Morrison of Detroit, Tonya & Ron Warren, and Robin & Kevin Alton, all of Belding; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Miedema of Cedar Springs and Sharon Hall of Grand Rapids; a brother-in-law, Wayne Sizemore of Kent City; sixteen grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Honoring Alberts wishes, cremation will take place and memorial services are being planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Lung Association. The Christiansen Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Greenville, is serving the family.
