Alan Van White, age 63, of Lakeview, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at Corewell Health-Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The son Erwin & Jennie Lee (Haven) White, he was born on November 28, 1961 in Elkhart, Indiana.
A proud veteran of the United States Army, Alan attained the rank of sergeant and was awarded the Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal, Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon, Marksman Badge (M-16) and an Overseas Service Ribbon.
On July 28, 1990, in Elkhart, Indiana, he married Carolle L. Martens and together they enjoyed nearly 35 years of marriage. Obedient to his Christian faith, Allen loved Jesus with his whole heart and had been actively involved at Hills Corners Bible Church and Grace Bible Church, as well as a special prison ministry. In more recent years, he attended Langston Bible Church, and was currently employed at Alloy Exchange in Rockford. Alan was an avid reader and when he was younger enjoyed hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Melody Martens.
Surviving are his wife, Carolle White of Lakeview; a brother, Keith White & Shannon Gage of Elkhart, Indiana; a sister, Kathy Allen of Elkhart, Indiana; three siblings-in-law, Rodney & Cindy Martens of Hickory Corners, Michigan, Stephen Martens Waukesha, Wisconsin, and Tamrah & Bob Lacy of Brooklyn, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at Langston Bible Church (1202 W. Church Street N.W.), with the Rev. John Frank officiating. A time of food and fellowship will immediately follow the ceremony in the church hall.
