Alan Stover

November 17, 1943 — March 26, 2024

Alan Francis Stover passed away on March 26, 2024. Born on November 17, 1943, in Muskegon, Michigan, he spent his 80 years nurturing a deep love for his home state. Alan's favorite pastime was sharing stories about his adventures and experiences. His gift for storytelling made him an excellent salesman, a skill he honed after his early years at Bissell. Alan's passion for ice racing motorcycles led him to a fulfilling career with Fox Racing. He cherished the memories made while planning and participating in the annual Dilley Wackers tour with close friends. An avid nature lover, Alan spent his downtime photographing the Great Lakes' lighthouses and Michigan's diverse wildlife. Living along the Thornapple River, he indulged in his hobbies of photography and birdwatching, with a particular fondness for cardinals. He is survived by his sister, Jill Hoogerhyde (Sid); daughters, Wendy Austin (Mike) and Abby Halvorson (Russell); grandchildren, Jessica Clark, Jacob Austin, Justine John, Russell Halvorson III, and Sawyer Halvorson; seven great-grandchildren; cousins, Barb Bacon, Nancy Richard, Mark McKersie, and Jan Maskell; nieces, Martha Martin (Chris) and Kim Hoogerhyde; as well as his dear friends John and Jan Ellis, among many others he considered family.
