Adrian Stone

June 15, 1946 — July 13, 2020

Adrian "Ray" Stone (age 74) from Kentwood, Michigan, passed away at his home on July 13, 2020, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his family who loved him dearly. Ray was born in Norfolk, Virginia on June 15, 1946 to Ransome and Cecile Stone. He had 5 siblings: Patricia (Hoyt) Parris, Sparky (Jack) Higgins, Randy Stone, Libby (Paul) Rowland, and Rita (Bill) Heitzer. After graduating from high school, Ray joined the United States Navy, where he proudly served on the USS Bennington. Following his service in the Navy, he began his career as an electrician. Ray loved golfing, fishing, hunting, playing poker, and spending time at the American Legion Post 208, where he proudly served as Commander. Ray is survived by his children, Adrian Ray Stone Jr., Michael (Lori) Stone, Tricia (Carvin) Hall, Heather Rose; step children, Michelle (Rick) Alverez and Melissa (Teejay) Moran; sister, Sparky (Jack) Higgins; and sisters-in-law, Betty (Dick) England, Diane (Daryl) Carey, and Linda (Ed) Van Kammen, and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was an awesome uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, although one was his favorite (fight it out). Ray was very close to his friends. He even had a system of identifying his closest friends through his speed dial on his phone. Again, fight it out. Ray was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Dan Rose; Elvis Presley; and all 4 of his wives: Pat, Sharon, Judy, and his latest wife, Judith Stone. Good luck in heaven, dad. When you need a place to hide up there, you can go to your parents, Ransome and Cecile Stone or one of your siblings: Patricia, Randy, Libby, or Rita. Our dad requested there be no funeral. Instead, he wanted us to throw a big party. We are planning on having this party in a few weeks and will keep you updated. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to the Lemmen Holton Cancer Pavilion of Grand Rapids. We want to give a special thank you to Faith Hospice for taking care of our dad, and to dad's friends - for all of their support. Here are a few words that sum up his life: "Whoa", "Duh", and "Thank you very much". Please remember that he loves you more. Cremation arrangements were entrusted to Michigan Cremation & Funeral Care, Grand Rapids, 616-452-3006, exclusive providers of Veterans Funeral Care.
